What Is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian therapy in which a smooth-edged tool is used to stroke the skin, promoting circulation, releasing muscle tension, and moving stagnant energy, or ‘qi’. This simple yet powerful technique supports healing across the body and can also be used as a gentle facial treatment to lift, sculpt, and enhance natural glow.

Unlike deep massage, Gua Sha works by encouraging microcirculation and lymphatic flow, helping reduce inflammation, unwind tight muscles, and calm the nervous system. Depending on the concern being addressed, mild redness (known as “sha”) may appear and typically resolves within a few days.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your treatment begins with a consultation to understand your goals. Your practitioner will apply a nourishing oil or balm, then gently glide the Gua Sha tool along specific areas to release tension and improve flow.

Most clients find the treatment deeply soothing, with noticeable improvements in mobility, facial tone, and overall relaxation after just one session.
