Restorative Rhythms Drum Circle (Special Free Event)

Discover the healing power of rhythm in this Restorative Rhythms Drum Circle, a unique wellness workshop led by the Rhythm of Life Society designed to reconnect body, mind, and spirit through sound and movement. Participants will embark on an interactive rhythmic journey using Djembes (West African hand drum) and other percussion-based instruments, exploring how rhythm can move beyond simple auditory stimulation to become a deep restorative experience within the body.

Guided by Lyle Povah, an international drum circle facilitator, you’ll be invited to tap into the natural rhythms that foster balance, release, and connection. No musical experience is required!  Simply bring yourself and an open, curious mind - all drums will be provided, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Modifications are available for all physical capabilities in this inclusive space where everyone can join in co-creating rhythm to foster community and well-being.

This special 2-hour therapeutic drum circle is being offered free of charge (regularly $60) to a limited group of 20 participants. In exchange, participants agree to be filmed throughout the session, complete a brief 5-minute survey before and after the workshop, and may be invited to offer a short video testimonial. This helps us document the impact of this work and expand access to therapeutic drumming for more people and communities.

WHAT TO BRING (optional items)

  • Water bottle

  • Pen and paper for journaling

  • Your own drum (we will have enough drums for everyone)

About The Rhythm of Life Society

The Rhythm of Life Society is a registered charity organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Their vision is a world where the transformative power of music enhances the well-being of every individual. Their mission is to reduce isolation and loneliness by offering inclusive, interactive drum circle events and programs that welcome people of all ages and abilities.

About the Drumming

Drumming has been used across cultures and centuries as a tool for healing, connection, and celebration. In this session, the Djembe (an African hand drum) becomes a bridge connecting us to our breath, to the earth beneath us, and to one another. Through guided rhythm, improvisation, and shared pulse, you'll experience drumming not just as music, but as medicine. No experience is required - Lyle’s facilitation style is intuitive, inclusive, and heart-led. Whether you’re new to drumming or have been playing for years, you’ll find a welcoming rhythm to join.
