Kiem Schutter, Clinical Director, R.Ac.

A snowboarding injury lead Kiem to seek treatment through acupuncture and the quick, pain-relieving results sparked his interest in the practice. He went on to study at the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC and graduated as a Registered Acupuncturist. He currently participates as a member on the ACOS Program Advisory Committee.

Kiem’s vision for a health clinic comprised of a skilled multidisciplinary health team came to fruition in 2006 when he founded Qi Integrated Health in Kitsilano. Qi was a runner up for the 2010 Business of the Year award from the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce.

Kiem currently serves as the President of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of BC (www.tcmabc.org)

Kiem uses a holistic healing approach to successfully treat sports-related conditions, soft tissue damage, stress-related syndromes and fatigue. He incorporates acupuncture, cupping, electrical stimulation, tui-na (Chinese massage), and Qi gong exercises into his healing practice. After an initial assessment, Kiem will develop a clear and flexible treatment strategy designed specifically for you, which will ultimately lead you on a path to greater well being.

 

Dr. Kelly Cmolik, Dr.TCM, R.Ac.

Dr. Kelly Cmolik graduated from the Doctorate program at Vancouver’s International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a Registered Acupuncturist and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA).

Her post-graduate studies include training in diagnostics, pregnancy and childbirth, infertility, women's health, endocrinology, dermatology, allergic and autoimmune conditions including asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, psoriasis and Crohn's disease. She also completed the Constitutional Facial Renewal course with Mary Elizabeth Wakefield.

Dr. Cmolik has a special interest in treating chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, using a combination of internal therapy and all natural skin care products. Respiratory health is another area of clinical focus, and she has enjoyed success in the treatment of asthma and other chronic conditions affecting the lungs. She is currently accepting new clients. Dr. Peter Wood, Dr.TCM, R.Ac., BPE

Dr. Peter Wood's clinical experience and focus are on the Atopic conditions of Asthma, Allergies, and Eczema.

Peter served (2007-2010) as the President of the board of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of British Columbia (www.tcmabc.org).

Participation in a Qi Gong class ignited Peter’s fascination with the idea of Qi. His curiosity led him to the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, where he completed five years of rigorous training. Peter has since achieved the highest level of certification available in the profession (Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine) which incorporates the licenses of Registered Acupuncturist, and Registered TCM Herbalist. In the process, he also completed a two-month residency at the Anhui hospital in Hefei, China.

Peter has a Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) from the University of Manitoba.

He is inspired by the belief that Qi is the missing link between the etiology (the cause of disease), and pathogenesis (the development of disease) in Western medicine. His goal is to bridge the gap between these medicines, the merging of which will create the most effective medical system in history.

Dr. Tesnim Adatya

Dr. Adatya is a general practitioner and primary care physician. She completed her B.Sc. in Speech Pathology and spent a year abroad involved in humanitarian work before entering medical school at age 20. She has always recognized the importance of prevention in health care and continuing medical education. Dr. Adatya holds a Doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from the nationally accredited National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Oregon, has post-graduate certification as a Menopause Clinician through the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric & Gynecological Specialties, and is further certified in Clinical Breast Examinations for Breast Cancer Risk and Assessment through the Oregon Cancer Center in association with Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Adatya also has advanced accreditation in Obstetrics, Intravenous Therapeutic Injections, NAET, Clinical Homeopathy and is licensed in Acupuncture.

Dr. Adatya has lectured nationwide in over 300 cities to both the general public and health care professionals on topics related to reproductive health and cancer. Her lecturing circuit has included Scripps Medical Center, Arthur Ashe Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Columbia University, Harvard School of Public Health and Oregon Health Sciences University, to name a few. She is a respected authority on women’s health issues and has been interviewed nationally in print, television and radio, including NPR and CBC. Dr. Adatya has published numerous articles and is a contributing author of the book, A Woman’s Health Resource, 2nd edition.

Kelsey Armstrong, RMT

A strong passion for sport related injuries and rehabilitation is what drove Kelsey into the field.
As a therapist, Kelsey is committed to working cooperatively with her patients as she selects treatment techniques to suit each individual’s needs. These may include a combination of myofascial release, joint mobilization, visceral therapy, deep tissue/sport massage, trigger point therapy and Swedish techniques. When working with athletes, treatments tend to take a more active approach, where the client will often assist the therapist in movements, ranges and stretches.

Kelsey strongly believes that remedial exercises and homecare are just as important to recovery as the manual therapy itself. A unique plan is developed, each specifically designed to suite each clients needs, including stretching, strengthening and hydrotherapy.

Kelsey's ultimate goal is to help you get active and stay active.

 

Dr. Robin Armstrong, BA, DC

Dr. Robin Armstrong has been involved in the health and wellness industry for over 15 years as a coach, personal trainer, yoga teacher, kinesiologist and now chiropractor. After seeing the success her mother, a highly competitive runner, achieved through chiropractic care, and experiencing the effects herself as a varsity volleyball player, she was inspired to pursue a career in chiropractic. Following a degree in kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, she completed a further four years of chiropractic training at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.

Dr. Armstrong takes a strong interest in helping people get active and stay active to enjoy a long, healthy life. Combining traditional chiropractic care with advanced soft tissue therapy (Active Release Technique), exercise prescription and Yoga Therapy, she designs individualized treatment programs to get her patients pain free, more mobile, and back enjoying life.

Dr. Armstrong is also a certified yoga instructor and has taught anatomy for the yoga teacher training programs at Semperviva Yoga, Live Yoga, Yoga Pod and Yoga Works. She was pleased to be chosen by Lululemon Athletica as an Ambassador of health, fitness, and community values.

Lisa Schneider, RMT

In April of 2007, Lisa Schneider graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, ON. She also studied two levels of craniosacral therapy with the Upledger Institute which helped her develop further insight to the complexities of trauma on the human body.

Originally registered in Ontario, Lisa spent two years in the nation’s capital developing her skills as a Massage Therapist and Craniosacral Therapist in both an integrative medicine clinic and a registered massage therapy clinic. Now in Vancouver, Lisa is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of BC and a member of the Massage Therapists Association of BC.

Armed with the most current health and massage information and a genuine thirst for knowledge, Lisa enjoys applying her skills and experience at Qi Integrated Health. With a focus on pain management and rehabilitation, she ultimately hopes to show that with accurate treatment, education and balance, pain can be managed alternatively and should not prevent people from living the best life possible.

 

Marsha Clarke, RMT

Marsha graduated from ICT Northumberland College in Halifax, NS in 2005. Shortly after, she practiced as a registered massage therapist in Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2006, she was accepted into the Agreement of Internal Trade Program (AIT) at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. After completing 3000 hours of Massage Therapy Marsha was registered in British Columbia.

Marsha performs Deep Tissue Therapy while specializing in Myofascial Release and Sports Massage. She is committed to facilitating her patient’s healing process and conducts a holistic assessment of each person. She applies manual techniques, such as Swedish Massage, Myofascial release, Trigger Point Therapy, Manual Lymph Drainage, Muscle Energy Technique, Range of Motion, Stretching, Rehabilitation Exercise, Hydrotherapy and other modalities to achieve positive change and restore balance within the body. Marsha’s experience includes, but is not limited to, injury rehabilitation, acute and chronic pain, pregnancy massage, professional athletes and motor vehicle accident injuries, as well as, whiplash, neck and back pain, strains, sprains, headaches, postural conditions, fibromyalgia, constipation, carpal tunnel syndrome, stress, and anxiety.

Dr. Spence Pentland, Dr.TCM, R.Ac., FABORM

Dr. Spence Pentland persued undergraduate studies in botany, herbology, & horticulture, then went on to graduate with his doctor of TCM from the acclaimed International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, BC. He completed his internship at Anhui Hospital of TCM, Hefei City, China. In 2008, he completed certification with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine ( www.aborm.org ). Since 2003 Spence practiced at Acubalance Wellness Centre, and as of February 2011 has joined Qi Integrated Health Clinic, where he will continue to focus exclusively on treating reproductive health (infertility, endometriosis, PCOS, recurrent pregnancy loss), men’s sexual/andrological health issues (infertility, prostatitis, erectile dysfunction, & premature ejaculation).

As past president of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of British Columbia (TCMABC), past member of the provincial BC TCM quality assurance committee, founder of both West TCM Enterprises, a burgeoning resource for online health information websites and resources, & Medigogy wellness webinars, Spence is actively involved in educating healthcare colleagues and the public on the powerful healing benefits of Chinese medicine & acupuncture.

Brad Watt, RMT

A graduate of the 3,000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster, BC, Brad is committed to assisting his clients achieve and maintain optimal physical function, recover from injury and improve their overall wellbeing. Brad focuses on Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue and customized remedial exercises to attain specific goals set for each of his clients.

Having a strong passion for sports massage and athletics, Brad is part of the massage therapy staff for the Track and Field and Cross Country teams at the University of British Columbia.

Brad most enjoys playing with his daughter Madison, taking advantage of the lower mainland's outdoors and staying as active as possible - playing ice hockey, trail running, swimming, biking and good ol' fashioned weight lifting.

 

Grace McDonald, RMFT

Grace McDonald graduated from the Marriage & Family Therapy Master's program at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She is a Registered Marriage & Family Therapist (RMFT) in British Colombia and a Licensed MFT in California (LMFT). She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT) , the British Colombia Association of Marriage & Family Therapy (BCAMFT), as well as the Registry of Marriage & Family Therapy (RMFT) in Canada. Grace currently serves on the board of the BCAMFT.

Grace's therapy experience includes the counseling of adults and children affected by parenting issues, life hardship, and relationship issues. She has provided support to client's experiencing depression, anxiety, abuse, various life crisis, and developmental disabilities and diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD. In addition, she has worked with clients individually, in groups, as a couple, and in family sessions.

Grace primarily uses an existential humanistic approach in her therapy practice, and also applies cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness. She brings warmth, compassion, and heart into her work with clients, while providing feedback, practical solutions, and support towards change. She implements general counseling with extra support in parenting techniques, relationships, and life transitions. She helps clients in their path towards self-acceptance, taking responsibility, empowerment, intentionality, awareness, and authenticity. Her goal is to guide clients so they can figure out and have what they want in life in order to feel happy, have meaningful relationships, and feel a great sense of self-worth.

Susan Carlson, RHN, BSc

Susan has always had a great passion for the power of food. Through her high school years she was always intrigued at the workings of the human body, and the control we may exhibit over it. This led her to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cellular Biology at Vancouver Island University. She still had a drive to learn more about how we actually fuel our cells and our bodies, and what we need for optimal health. Shortly after her degree she decided to continue her journey in health, which brought her to Vancouver, to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. The program resonated with her and her enthusiasm for wellness.
She graduated early in 2011 as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.

Susan is eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with clients and friends, assisting them in their quest for optimal health. Nutrition isn’t only about the foods you eat, but how you nourish your life. She trusts the ability of body-mind-spirit in the regulation and prevention of disease. Choosing the right food for your individual needs is the fundamental cornerstone of nourishment. This is key to allow your body to function at its optimal level.
In her leisure time, Susan enjoys being active around the city. She enjoys running the seawall, moksha yoga, or relaxing with a book on the beach. She likes to further her knowledge in wellness, attending seminars and keeping up with current research.
